I’m not one to skip the bun when having a burger, but you will not miss it with this recipe!  Be sure to use a high quality meat patty (I use Peter Luger) and DO NOT be cheap with the seasoning.  These burgers are truly DIVINE, and how can you not love anything with burrata?

Cook Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4

  • 4 6-ounce hamburger patties
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 large heirloom tomato, stemmed and sliced into ¼” rounds
  • 2 4-ounce balls of burrata
  • Flaky sea salt, for serving
  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for serving
  • Balsamic glaze, for serving
  • Fresh basil, torn, for serving
  • Freshly ground black pepper

  • Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  • Season both sides of the hamburger patties generously with salt.
  • Place the burgers on the grill and cook until the edges begin to caramelize, for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Flip the burgers and place a slice of tomato on each. Cover the grill and cook to desired doneness, a couple minutes or so more. (If using a grill pan, cover the burger with a metal bowl.)
  • Transfer the hot burger to a serving dish.
  • Top with half a ball of burrata and a generous sprinkling of flaky sea salt.
  • Drizzle some oil and balsamic glaze over the burger, and garnish with torn basil and freshly ground black pepper; serve immediately.
