I’ve always been drawn to “older” recipes like Cherries Jubilee and Banana Pudding. Things were simple back then – taking just a few delicious ingredients and layering them to create something delicious. Growing up my dad’s favorite cookie was a Nilla Wafer, so I’ve always been partial to them. Serving them up with whipped cream, bananas and pudding, what could be better? How about turning it into a milkshake? I promise, the kids will love this one! (And so will the adults!)

Banana Pudding Milkshakes

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 6

Ingredients

FOR THE BANANA CREAM:

  • 1 3.4-ounce package vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 small, very ripe bananas, mashed

FOR THE SHAKES:

  • 4 cups premium vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup whole milk, plus more as needed
  • 1 ½ cups vanilla wafers, coarsely crumbled, plus more for garnish
  • Whipped cream, for serving

Instructions

  • MAKE THE BANANA CREAM. In a large bowl, whisk the instant pudding mix and the milk for 2 minutes; let sit until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the mashed banana and stir until well combined; transfer to a piping bag and set aside.
  • MAKE THE SHAKES. In a high-powered blender, blend the ice cream and milk until thick and smooth in consistency, adding more milk, as needed.
  • To ASSEMBLE, pipe half of the banana cream filling evenly into six (12-ounce) milkshake glasses.
  • Sprinkle half of the vanilla wafer crumbles evenly over the cream.
  • Pour half of the vanilla shake mixture into the glasses.
  • Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
  • Top with whipped cream and garnish with additional vanilla wafer crumbs and a whole vanilla wafer; serve immediately.
